Presiding Bishop Calls for Day of Prayer for Lambeth Conference
Episcopal News Service] Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori has called the Episcopal Church to a Day of Prayer on June 22 for this summer's Lambeth Conference of Anglican Communion bishops. The July 16-August 3 conference "represents one important way of building connections and relationships between churches in vastly different contexts, and reminding us of the varied nature of the Body of Christ," Jefferts Schori said in a June 4 letter addressed to the people of the Episcopal Church. "I would bid your prayers for openness of spirit, vulnerability of heart, and eagerness of mind, that we might all learn to see the Spirit at work in the other. I bid your prayers for a peaceful spirit, a lessening of tension, and a real willingness to work together for the good of God's whole creation."
Pride Fest Colorado Springs 20 Jul 2008
Church of the Good Shepherd will once again be hosting a booth at the Gay Pride Event in Acacia Park (downtown Colorado Springs) on July 20th. Church members are needed to be in the booth throughout the day to meet and greet people. The more volunteers we have the shorter the shifts will be. This is a great Evangelization and Outreach tool. We have been one of the only mainstream churches to participate in the past. If you are interested, please contact Judy Girard.
SAFEGUARDING GOD’S CHILDREN

PERSONAL ITEMS
Stockpile your toiletries for the folks who come to the Lord’s dinner. We will be collecting shampoos, soap, lotion, toothpaste, etc. for the guests of the Lord’s dinner. The next dinner we sponsor is February 10, 2008, so we will collect these items throughout January. Travel sized items are ideal.
THE LORD’S DINNER
Once each quarter, Church of the Good Shepherd participates in a “soup kitchen” Sunday evening meal hosted at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 21st and West Colorado Avenue. The next dinner is on August 10th. Food, workers, money and entertainment are always welcome! Contact Deacon Frances for more information or to volunteer.
